Youngsters today are used to high speed sports.  They whiz down the mountain on snowboards at 20 - 30 miles per hour or cruise down hills on in-line skates.  It is not surprising that sailing often does not provide the excitement which kids desire.  Wind surfing comes close, but to be fun it often requires a narrow set of weather conditions and strength.

Opti’s are enjoyable, but painfully slow and difficult to capsize, Sunfish and Lasers are faster but can be unstable, and small catamarans are often are difficult to tack.
