Our Philosophy
Providing an enriched environment that supports learning through child-directed and teacher-facilitated play. Your child will grow and develop social skills in a place where he or she is continuously nurtured and encouraged to develop.
We believe that an integral aspect of meeting the developmental needs of your child is to maintain low child-to-teacher ratios, small group sizes and continuity of care. We also believe in the importance of a partnership with parents so that a consistency of care can be maintained between the home and school.
The curriculum at Mountain Lakes Country Day School provides children with the opportunity to choose from various materials and activities to enhance learning through hands-on experiences. It offers teachers the guidance, support and freedom to be creative and responsive to children. Children spend time in both individual and group activities.
Interest areas play an important role in each classroom. These include:

Children develop their emotional, social, physical and intellectual skills through daily interactions with caregivers, other children and developmentally appropriate materials while being given continuos opportunities for exploration and discovery.
At Mountain Lakes Country Day School we recognize the significant influence of teachers and caregivers on your child's development. Our center is staffed by certified teachers and highly qualified assistants that share one common goal - to provide a happy and positive surrounding where children are comfortable and look forward to their daily learning activities.
We provide quality care for infants, aged 6 weeks to 18 months, Toddlers, ages 18 to 36 months, Preschoolers, ages 4 to 5 years. Classrooms are broken down by age group. Activities are planned for small groups based on the principles of developmentally appropriate practices.
Parents may choose between the following half, partial, full or extended day programs based on a 2,3, or 5 day week:

We also offer a drop-in program with a two hour minimum (advance registration required) for toddler, preschool and Pre-K. The center is open all year with limited closings for holidays and staff trainings.
Our state-of-the-art building is designed to ensure a safe and secure environment. It incorporates viewing windows into each classroom, a buzzer system for school entry and a means f egress from each classroom directly to the outside. All staff members are easily identifiable by school badges. Only parents and employees are given access to enter the building at any time.
Meals include optional breakfast, two snacks and a hot lunch. Menus are planned to meet nutritional guideline requirements. Children are encouraged to try new foods and make meal time a time for socialization. Additionally, cooking/food experiences are an important component of our curriculum.
You are welcome to visit our facility at any time or simply call Cindy Pirrello at 973.983.9831 to request more information on our early childhood programs. We look forward to meeting you to discuss the most suitable program for you and your child and if you wish, to initiate the enrollment process.
