Fall of 2008 will be the 7th season for the Recreation Field Hockey program. Approximately 50 girls sign up each year and they are divided into two teams.  There are 11 people on the field at a time, 1 goalie, 3 defensive players, 3 mid-fielders and 4 on attack.

We play other towns: Montville, Lincoln Park, Harding and Wayne. There are usually 10 games scheduled once the school year begins and depending on availability, each player has 5 games. Because we do not belong to a league, the games are scheduled on random days and the times of the games vary.  (Sorry, parents!)

This program focuses on fun and learning the game of field hockey.  One practice a week is required for safety reasons.  Players are not penalized for missing a practice. 

Note to Parents

• Open to girls in 7th and 8th Grade from Boonton Township and Mountain Lakes.
• Practices are on Wednesday and Thursday night, 5:30 - 7:00.
• Season runs from mid August to the end of October.
• Location of practices -- the side field to the left of Mountain Lakes High School.
• Coaches: Cathy Mitchell, Nick Bayvel, Patti Drollinger.
• Purpose: To introduce the girls to the game of field hockey so they can make an informed decision to play or not to play in high school.
• Cost: $50 for the season.
• Equipment: stick, mouth guard, shin guards, cleats.  We now have a collection of sticks to lend out.  Soccer cleats and shin guards work for Field Hockey.
