Services of the Mountain Lakes Library |
The Children's Room has materials suitable for non-readers to young adults. Fiction, including "easy readers" and picture books, non-fiction, biographies, reference material, audio tapes, and magazines are kept in this section. The library sponsors Story Time sessions throughout the year for pre-schoolers. A theme program is held in the summer months for children in grades K-5 as well as pre-schoolers. Special events occur frequently and are advertised throughout the community.
All residents of Mountain Lakes are entitled to a library card which can be used at any library in Morris County. The first card is free of charge. Lost cards can be replaced for $1.00. Children may have a card when they are in the first grade and can write their name. A parent must sign each child's registration card.
Non-residents who are employed in Mountain Lakes may be entitled to a Courtesy Card at no charge for a period of one year. It can be used for materials and services in the Mountain Lakes Library only. The privilege can be renewed.
Boonton Township residents may obtain a Family Membership Card for an annual fee which can be used for materials and services in the Mountain Lakes Library only. As an alternative, Boonton Township residents may obtain a Family Membership Card for an annual fee which will be valid in any library in Morris County.
Morris County Library cards are valid only at the Morris County Library and cannot be used to either borrow materials or to obtain normal library services at the Mountain Lakes Library.

A patron is responsible for all materials charged out on his or her card. A parent or guardian is responsible for all materials charged out by juveniles (defined as under 18 years of age) for whom they have signed membership applications. Damages beyond reasonable wear will be assessed by the library and paid by the patron. Any lost materials will be charged to the patron.
Video cassettes must be charged out on an adult card with that adult present. Children (under 18 years) are not allowed to charge out videos. Only three videos per family may be charged out at any given time.
Audio-visual materials must be returned to the library from which they are borrowed.
All Interlibrary Loan materials must be returned to the library from which the request was made.
Reference materials and periodicals do not circulate, except when otherwise indicated.
Materials may be renewed in person or by telephone (no video renewals by phone) providing no other patron is waiting for them.
