8. St. Peter's Episcopal Church
215 Boulevard
In June 1923, St. John's School at the Wilson School offered its facilities for church activities. In August of that same year the first wardens and vestrymen of St. Peter's were elected. The cornerstone for the present building was laid in October 1926 and the first service was held in the new church one year later. St. Peter's was the only church in the Newark Diocese organized as a parish, not a mission.
To Site 9: The Little Theater
Return to the path next to the Boulevard. Face St. Peter's and follow
the path to the right until you reach #171 Boulevard on the left. The
theater is located slightly behind and to the right of the large white house.
(If you reach the small parking lot on the left at the intersection of
Briarcliff Road and the Boulevard you have gone too far.)
