5. Mountain Lakes Club

18 Lake Drive

The Mountain Lakes Club opened in 1914.  The lower floor contained a men's smoking room, billiard and pool room, bowling alleys, and lockers.  The upper floor had a large assembly room, a reception room, and a shower room for women.  A fire, started in the kitchen on New Year's Eve of 1928, burned the entire club to the ground.  It was rebuilt and reopened in 1931.  Members enjoyed the first real beach on Mountain Lake.
