THE 2nd UN WEEKEND POSTER COMPETITION

An important part of the ML/UN weekend has always been the art show showcasing works by our local students. This year, the annual art show will consist of UN-themed posters designed by Mountain Lakes students for our second annual UN Weekend Poster Contest. Last year’s poster contest attracted almost 200 entries which were greatly enjoyed by delegates and guests and added tremendously to the weekend fun.

Open to students at all four schools in Mountain Lakes as well as Riverview School In Boonton Township, the objective is to help our youngsters establish a personal connection with the important work of our guests and the UN itself. The choice of specific subject matter is left to the individual students, but should encompass the efforts and ideals of the UN Charter and projects. These could include—but are not limited to— the ideas of international cooperation, peace-keeping, health programs or worldwide education.

Judging will be by an independent panel of professional artists. All entries will be hung at the art show and will be returned to the entrants at the end of the weekend

PRIZES & RECOGNITION

There will be two prizes consisting of $50 US Savings Bonds for each school (two for Lake Drive, two for Wildwood, two for Briarcliff, two for MLHS, two for Wilson).

Winners will be announced after the art show is hung at MLHS the week before the UN Weekend.

Prizes will be awarded at the Closing Ceremony on Sunday October 29.
