2008 Local Regattas

NOTES TO PARENTS

  1. General Description: The sailing programs are designed to provide a balance between recreational sailing and racing. For the first few lessons, an instructor sails in the same boat with the learner. Generally a youngster will sail solo (with an instructor in a nearby boat) on the fourth lesson. Usually a youngster is able to race on the seventh lesson. Most youngsters need two years in the program to become competitive racers, i.e., to do well enough in regattas to enjoy themselves. The racing instruction is at a highest possible level and will prepare serious youngsters for local and national competition. Off-lake participation is strongly encouraged. We discourage coaching or cheering by parents during races.
  2. Coaches: Mr. Eveleth, Mr. Burn    Councilor: Gina Tomarchio    Councilors in Training - Andrew Daniel, Robert Gossett
