OUR STAFFPatricia Carque became Senior Pastor of The Community Church of Mountain Lakes on October 1, 2005. Patricia joins us after serving the New Creation UCC in San Diego, CA as Interim Minister. Prior to this, she spent 1.5 years as Hospice Chaplain at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in San Diego. From 1997 to 2003 she was the Pastor and Minister of Stewardship and Community at the First Church of Christ in New Haven, CT. Patricia holds a BA in Sociology from Wake Forest University, NC, a Masters of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary and a Certificate in Mediation from Lancaster Mediation Center. Patricia has additional training in leadership, spiritual direction and hospice care, and is involved in a wide variety of community and civic activities. Patricia's Statement of Ministry: "My vision for ministry is to find the place that God has in mind for me and fully use the gifts that I have been given. My hope is to love and work within a community where people are motivated to grow in an understanding of God, themselves, and one another, and to find ways to honor God together in this world". Audrey V. Leef has been an active member of The Community Church since 1955. An ordained minister, she holds degrees from Drew University Theological School, Stevens Institute of Technology, Montclair State University and Rutgers University. Before joining the staff of The Community Church as Pastoral Associate in 1998, she became Pastor Emerita of The First Congregational Christian Church of Irvington, New Jersey. She also served eight years as Protestant Chaplain at Montclair State University where she holds the title Professor Emerita in the Mathematics Department. She is a Counseling Specialist in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). Christopher Rodkey, Director of Youth Ministries and Adult Education, has been with The Community Church since 2003. Prior to joining us, he pastored a church in Blue Island, IL, and worked in a variety of campus, prison, and teaching ministries, as well as activism in the areas of gay and prisoner rights and anti-casino expansion. He has an undergraduate degree from St. Vincent College and a divinity degree from the University of Chicago. Chris is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Drew University. A Research Fellow for Emory University's Youth Theological Institute, Chris has published in The Journal of Cultural and Religious Theory, Sacramental Life, Doxology, and The Bulletin of the North American Paul Tillich Society. Chris and his wife, Traci, reside in Denville. Christina Jonas, is now in her 3rd year as Music Director of Children, Gloria, Youth, & Chancel Choirs. She graduated from Washington University with a BA in music (organ major) and Northwestern University with an MA in organ performance. Christina has taught 27 years in public schools, 20 of them as General Music Teacher at Wildwood Elementary School in Mountain Lakes. Christina believes God gave us all a voice to sing God's praises! Janet Eveleth is the Bell Choir Director at The Community Church. Music has always been a big part of her life. While at Smith College, Janet was a member of the Smith College Choir, which toured overseas in the summers. She studied bell ringing at Westminster Choir College in Princeton and attended American Guild of English Handbell Ringers workshops. The purpose of the Bell Choir is "uniting people through a musical art" as well as making beautiful music. |
