A meeting of the Mountain Lakes Web Site Committee was held on May 14, 2008 at the Mountain Lakes Borough Hall.  In attendance were Chairman Andy Bulfer, Clive Knowles, Nilesh Shringarpure, Mark Watrous, and Borough Council Liaison Blair Schleicher-Wilson.

Activities Since Last Time

• Andy Bulfer added AAUW events to Community Calendar at their request.
• Mark Watrous set up Mambo, a template system, for the sailing association.
• Nilesh Shringarpure worked to set up a telephone meeting between the Borough Manager and the Broadcast E-mail vendor.
• Clive Knowles put on a notice about stroke screening at the request of the secretary of the Health Commission.
• Blair Wilson obtained FAQ updates from the Schools Superintendent and provided them to Andy Bulfer who installed them.
• Andy Bulfer corrected a BOE candidates calendar.
• Clive Knowles updated LWV site with "Green" information.
• Andy Bulfer added Angelo George to business listings at his request.  Mr.  George is a resident of Mountain Lakes and has begun a financial advisor business.
• Clive Knowles put on a blurb about SMAC test on the Health Clinics page.
• At the request of the secretary of the Health Commission, Andy Bulfer added a page about elder care and a link to it from the Notice Board.
• We had a request to put a notice on the Notice Board about an event scheduled by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Northern NJ at Morris Center YMCA in Cedar Knolls.  The event did not appear to match the Web Committee's criteria for the Notice Board.  Andy Bulfer polled the Committee and it was decided to not to put it on although it was a worthy cause.
• Clive Knowles put Skin Cancer screening on the Health Clinics page
• Andy Bulfer put a photo on the front page provided by the chairman of the Woodlands Committee about clearing invasive species.  The caption was: "Three of Mountain Lakes' finest, Jeana Macleod, Margaret Gosset, and Joan Best removing barberry at the Tower Hill sled run."
• Clive Knowles received a current event calendar for the 55 Plus group and translated it to HTML and put it into their section.
• Andy Bulfer made many changes for track for chairman Michael Palazzi.
• At the request of the organizers of the Woods and Lakes run, Andy Bulfer added link to their site from their listing on the Community page.
• Andy Bulfer added H&SA/BOE General Meeting, "Drugs & Our Children" to the Community Calendar for Lavonne Feigeles.
• Andy Bulfer added notices of Facilities Committee meetings to the Notice Board at the request of chairman Richard Uranker.
• As has become routine, Andy Bulfer received a file of Library New Books for the month and formatted the information into HTML for their section.
• Andy Bulfer added complete information about Field Hockey for 2008 to the Recreation pages.
• Andy Bulfer added information about the Recreation Tennis program.
• Ba Da Boom --Andy Bulfer added information about Fourth of July fireworks to the Recreation page.
• As he does every month, Andy Bulfer received an electronic version of the Home and School Bulletin and added it to the Web site.  This also involves translating the calendar information contained in the bulletin to the Web site Community Calendar.
• Andy Bulfer put a springtime photo of Grunden's pond on the front page.

Traffic and Error Review

Mark Watrous led a discussion of his review of the error logs for the month.  One significant finding was that the Town Club pages were causing significant numbers of errors.  Watrous worked with the Webmaster for the Town Club and the problem was resolved.

  • Police Forms -- DONE
  • Construction Department -- The proposal to identify several key forms and put them on the Web site with the others on the NJ State Web site has not yet been done.
  • Recreation -- No change required
  • Shade Tree -- No change required
  • Planning Board -- No change required
  • Public Works -- No progress has been made.
  • Municipal Court -- The Borough Manager is still working on this function.
  • Broadcast E-mail -- There was quite a bit of discussion.  The Committee felt that the Borough has not shown sufficient interest for us to proceed.
  • Ordering Boat Slips/Racks on the Web -- Not ready yet
  • Borough Budget -- This has not been done but Andy Bulfer reported that the Borough Manager has promised it within a few days.
  • Annual Financial Information -- The Borough Manager has promised this within a few days also.
  • Legal Notices on the Web -- There was a long discussion on how this should work.
• Community Calendar -- There was discussion of requirements for a feature to allow members of the community to add items to the Community Calendar.  Clive Knowles will prepare a proposal for next time.
• Beach/Tennis Tags -- Andy Bulfer reported he his having trouble with this feature but hopes to complete it.
• Swim Team -- Nilesh Shringarpure reported that everything is complete except one item which is pending.

• Top Menu -- Andy Bulfer has not yet rolled the redesign out to all the appropriate pages.

New Business

• Donations for July 4 Fireworks -- Andy Bulfer reported that we have been asked to put a notice requesting donations for the fireworks since their cost has risen dramatically.
• Lax photo on front page -- It was decided to put an action photo from the County Lacrosse finals on the front page.  Mark Watrous will capture an appropriate photo from the video on You Tube and install it on the front page.

The next regular meeting will be on Wed, June 11, 2008 at Borough Hall.
