Web Site Committee

Minutes – April 25, 2001

The April meeting was held on Apr 25, 2001 at Borough Hall. In attendance were Emily Wolfe, Sally Santiago, Andy Bulfer, Stephanie Johns, and George Jackson.

Accomplishments

  • Emily Wolfe met with representatives of the YMCA. She will initially do something simple from their brochure.

  • Emily Wolfe is about 94 % finished with the Community Church site as a Type 2 organization. We are giving this item priority because it is the only House of Worship in town that has nothing on the website about it.

  • Sally Santiago is still working on preparing content for the Lakers Sports Club and she is nearly done. It should be done by next time.

  • Sally Santiago put a listing of School Board members with their telephone numbers and e-mail addressses if they wish on the website under Schools.

  • Emily Wolfe upgraded the Planning Board page. It is now much clearer and more attractive.

  • Andy Bulfer checked the Schools links for correctness.

Discussion and Action Items

  • We are expecting a significant amount of information from Police Chief Tovo concerning the Police Department and the Municipal Court. Chief Tovo committed to having it to us by May 1. Since Andy Bulfer will be on vacation at that time, it was decided to ask Chief Tovo to send it to Emily Wolfe. Emily Wolfe will organize it, format it for the web and install it.

  • Sally Santiago will put in a link to Hub Lakes.

  • Stephanie Johns will do recreation. She will also fix the Boy Scouts Troop 41 page.

  • It was decided to put the Borough Hall telephone number on the Borough page.

  • There was a discussion about the Houses of Worship page. The HofW page was originally intended to list Houses of Worship that are located in Mountain Lakes. Although there are no Jewish Synagogues in Mountain Lakes, there is a numerous and significant Jewish population. It was decided to put in the link that George Jackson provided that leads to an external page containing the Jewish synagogues in Northern NJ. It was also decided to delete the Jewish Community Center from the list of community organizations.

  • It is desired to get going on the Community Calendar. Andy Bulfer will take this on.

  • Emily Wolfe will obtain and put on current pictures of the Borough Council. Sally Santiago will do the same for the School Board.

The next meeting will be on Wed, June 13, 2001 at Borough Hall.

Andy Bulfer,
Chairman

The types of content are:

Type 1 – Relatively simple and minor content, doesn’t change often (e.g. Senior Citizens). The web committee installs it using a standard template.
Type 2 – Major, important organization (e.g. Environmental Commission) but doesn’t have the skills or interest to do it themselves. Web committee prepares customized pages on their behalf.
Type 3 – Important organization that has the skills and interest to do it themselves (e.g. League of Women Voters). Web committee provides a login and space on the Borough server. Web committee also monitors quality and offers help where needed.
Type 4 – Organization has their content on another system (e.g. St. Peters Episcopal Church). Web committee provides a link to them.
