MISSION: |
The Shade Tree Commission of the Borough of Mountain Lakes is committed to the development, maintenance and promotion of a sustainable, safe and productive shade tree resource that benefits the physical, environmental and social well being of the community, and preserves the historical climate and character of the borough. |

Policies: |
1. | There shall be from three to seven members on the Shade Tree Commission. Members shall be appointed by the Borough Council for terms of three years and shall be residents of the Borough. |
| 2. | One of the members shall be appointed Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission by the Borough Council. |
| 3. | A Secretary may be appointed by the Commissioners. The Secretary need not be a members of the Commission. |
| 4. | No compensation shall be paid to members of the Commission. |
| 5. | The Commission shall operate under the Laws of the State of New Jersey and the Revised General Ordinances of the Borough of Mountain Lakes, as they relate to shade trees and shrubs. |
| 6. | The Commission shall hold meetings as required for appropriate planning, but at least once a year. |
| 7. | The Commission shall present a program to the Borough Council in the Fall of each year for budget consideration. |
| 8. | The Commission shall cooperate with utility companies in the pruning and removal of trees in the public interest. |
| 9. | The Commission shall respond to complaints and requests for advice from citizens and local officials with respect to trees and shrubs. |
| 10. | The Commission shall keep the Council and Manager informed on pertinent Shade Tree Commission matters affecting the Borough's interest. |
