OBJECTIVES: |
To regulate the planting and care of shade trees and shrubs upon the public
highways in Mountain Lakes. |

POLICIES: |
1. |
The Commission shall consist of not less than five, nor more that seven
members, and may include not more than two alternate members.
Alternate members shall serve in the absence or disqualification of any
regular member or members.
Members and Alternate Members shall be appointed by the Borough Council
for terms of five years and shall be residents of the Borough. |

One of the members shall be elected Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission
by its members. |
| 3. |
A Secretary may be appointed by the Commissioners.
The Secretary need not be a member of the Commission. |
| 4. |
No compensation shall be paid to members of the Commission. |
| 5. |
The Commission shall operate under the Laws of the State of New Jersey and
the Revised General Ordinances of the Borough of Mountain Lakes, as they
relate to shade trees and shrubs. |
| 6. |
The Commission shall hold meetings as required for appropriate planning,
but at least once a year. |
| 7. |
The Commission shall present a program to the Borough Council in the Fall
of each year for budget consideration. |
| 8. |
The Commission shall cooperate with utility companies in the pruning and
removal of trees in the public interest. |
| 9. |
The Commission shall respond to complaints and requests for advice from
citizens and local officials with respect to trees and shrubs. |
| 10. |
The Commission shall keep the Council and Manager informed on pertinent
Shade Tree Commission matters affecting the Borough's interest. |
