Minutes: The minutes of the November 21st meeting were approved.
2007 BUDGET:
Denise will present the 2007 Budget at an upcoming council meeting.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
New Programs: Briarcliff Baseball: Mike Lubowitz and Bud Luzzi are leading a parent initiative to expand interscholastic programs at Briarcliff Middle School to include baseball, softball and soccer. The trial period will be 2 years. The main issues are fields. They met with RVS officials and the Board of Education. Briarcliff Baseball will be sponsored by Rec and endorsed by the Board of Education. Briarcliff Sports will be a 501(c)(3) entity. James Smith to coach the baseball team.
Roller Hockey (Tri-Town): Parsippany approached Boonton to see if Tri-Town is interested in roller hockey. Parsippany is looking to increase utilization. Denise will work with Rosemary Lynch to see if a team can be formed in the spring.
Weekend Tennis: Tri-Town Rec is offering a spring tennis program for 6 weeks beginning on May 26.
Track and Running Club: Mike Palazzi joined the meeting to discuss Juniors Track and Hub Lakes. Mike raised concern that the Juniors Track Program conflicts with Lacrosse over field time once the turf field is in. Denise will help coordinate volunteers for Hubs Lake. Peter reported on the Running Club, looking for a casual runners club for all ages and speed. Peter will host a meeting and enlist citizens to sign up. Goal is to start in April.

Upcoming Events Calendar: Summer Rec will be July 2 to August 10; Chili Cook-off at the Market -Sunday, February 25; Woods and Lake Run - April 28; Touch a Truck - Sunday, May 6; first of two movies this summer - June 1; Easter Egg Hunt - March 31; Beach opens (the day after the last day of school) - Saturday, June 23.
Dede and Denise to meet with Scott Richards and other leaders of the Swim Association to resolve a several year problem of where to locate the Swim Association’s equipment during and after the swim season, as well as try to resolve open issue on how to fund Rec providing lifeguards during Swim Team pre-season.
Senior Citizens Sunday at the Movies: Municipal Alliance of Boonton and Mountain Lakes Rec are trying to co-sponsor a senior citizens Sunday at the movies.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Playground Behind Condos: Gametime helped Denise plan on best way to develop design for a playground behind condos. Denise will put out to bid. Concern is where best to locate the playground.
New Member Nominations: Ed Kubliski, Mike Davies, Mike Prevoznik, and Scott Richards re-elected for terms through 12/31/09. Congratulations and thank you to all! Blair Wilson to submit Peter Sentowski and Rich Mancusso names to Council for consideration to fill vacancy.
2007 OBJECTIVES:
Mike circulated the proposed objectives for 2007, based primarily on the 2006 objectives. The Commission felt these were largely still applicable for the new year. The Commission revised slightly the Summer Rec program objective and as modified voted to approve the 2007 objectives. Mike will forward to Gary Webb.
