Absent:             Scott Richards, Peter Holmberg, James Smith, Dede Conlan

Minutes:           The minutes of the October 17th meeting were approved.

2007 BUDGET:

Denise presented the proposed 2007 Budget which has been submitted to Gary Webb.  She discussed the challenges of 2007, including the spike in salaries anticipated due to the increase in minimum wage.  Denise also reviewed a separate capital budget for 2007.  In private session later, the Commission expressed its need for a separate accounting of the revenues and expenses related to the Summer Recreation Program to help it determine if it will recommend a bonus for Denise for expanding and improving the program.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

New Programs:  Denise still needs to meet with the head of the Condominium Association to discuss its plans to build a playground (to be funded by the Condo Association).  Denise reported that she is working with the Boonton Recreation Director and considering jointly offering an indoor field hockey program or indoor youth soccer program at the Boonton Rec Center.  They are also exploring offering “drive-in movies” at Wildwood School over the February Winter Break.  Lastly, Denise proudly announced the Chili Cook-off will be back in 2007.  Details to follow.

The Christmas tree lighting will be Sunday, December 10th at 5 p.m. (same day as the Football banquet).  Mike Davies volunteered to pick-up the coffee and hot chocolate from Starbucks, with Kings to provide the cookies.  The High School Bell Choir and Madrigal Singers will perform.

The Halloween Flashlight Trick-or-Treat Hunt for our 4th and 5th graders was held at Midvale Field from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 29th.  It was a grand success with attendance in excess of 50 young men and women. All had great fun.

2007 OBJECTIVES:
The Commission has accomplished all of its 2006 Objectives, including offering many new programs for citizens of different ages (such as Yoga on the Beach, Lacrosse Family Camp, Halloween Flashlight, Trick-or-Treat Hunt, and Chili Cook-off).  Mike agreed to circulate proposed objectives for 2007, based largely on the 2006 objectives which the Commission felt were largely still applicable for the new year.

Denise reported that the Memorial Day 5k Run was seeking Rec endorsement but all agreed that Rec should not be endorsing any particular charity event.  Mike reported that to date over 130 children had signed up for Tri-Town Hoops.
