DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Adult/Child CPR: Classes will be offered by Dede. Cost will be $75.00 for both courses.
There is only space for about 16 students. Dede will need access to a DVD player.
This course will be offered Saturday, May 13, 2006 and will be 5 hours, starting at 9:00 AM, with a ˝ hour break for lunch.
Coach’s Clinic: Denise ran the last clinic and 42 adults attended. Cost of coach’s clinic has been $25.00 and generally the cost of these clinics in other locations is higher. Members decided to raise the cost to $40.00 per session due to the number of hours it takes for Denise to give and prepare these clinics.
FACILITIES TOUR:
Denise informed the commission that the playground behind the condominiums off of Intervale Rd has been removed by DPW. This must be rebuilt, but a fund/trust exists to pay for this. Deb made a suggestion to create something other then a playground that could be utilized by many of the older adults that reside within the community. A suggestion was made to create a walkway with exercise stations or something similar.
The facilities tour will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 30th and an e-mail will go out to see about attendance by commission members.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Mountain Lakes Club requested the use of our tennis courts until their
courts dry out and are ready for play.
Taft field was used by the Craig School even after Denise had said no to a request for the field use. She wrote them a letter and they were fined $200.00.
Midvale Field will be closed from June 2 to mid August to rest and recover.
Squirts Soccer will be held at Taft Field in July.
Web page: The Recreation Web page is up, working and looking very well thanks to the hard work of Andy Bulfer. The commission greatly appreciates his help and support regarding this task. Thank you Andy!
Phone system: Denise still has problems with the phones; this should be addressed as quickly as possible.
Benches: The commission needs to look at the benches and the need for benches that are situated around town.
Movies in the Park: Friday, June 23, and Friday, July 21 are when the tri-town movies at RFL are scheduled. Denise received support from Bank of America in the amount of $500.00 to put toward this program. Debbie mentioned the idea of creating baskets to raffle off to make some additional funds.
Fit for Life: Denise is working on a 10-mile bike ride to be held after the Memorial Day parade. Registration will be $30.00.
Touch a Truck: Everything is set up for this event. Louise brought up the question of raising some funds at this activity. A punch card was discussed.
