SUMMER REC UPDATE:

SUMMER RECREATION:     The new and improved summer recreation program begins Tuesday, July 5th at Wildwood School with 238 campers. Brad Davidson will oversee the program with the help of Matt Gotilla, Lindsey Hordes, and Evan Dolan. There will be approximately 50 counselors and 20 subs. All went through two training sessions, including safety training with Dede.  Brad has CPR and First Aid training. Duke raised his concern with the chain of command with the children and Denise responded that she would address those concerns

Evening Recreation will sponsor one night of martial arts, Wednesday night for men’s basketball and two nights of open gym.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

BEACH REPORT:       Dede reported that the signs at Island Beach should be changed to reflect the new time schedule for both beaches:  Open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The new draining system at the shack at Island Beach seems to be working well. The Board of Health Inspector visited and requested more signage at the shack exhibiting the emergency exit plan for the beach.  Disposable protective face gear and protective gowns also must be available in the event of an emergency.

There was an incident at Island Beach with a child’s birthday party. The beach was left in poor condition and DPW had to spend two hours cleaning up the beach on Saturday morning after a sleepover that happened without permit. The Commission discussed whether the individuals who hosted the party should pay for clean up. To alleviate this problem in the future Dede requested a deposit be set for the personal use of beaches that will be held to help ensure clean up is satisfactory.

JULY 4TH:   Fun races will begin at 10:00 a.m. at The Club.  A total of $2,741.00 has been raised for the fireworks so far.  Island Beach will be closed at 1:00 pm to set up for this event.

MOVIES IN THE PARK:  216 people attended the first tri-town movie.  Two more movies to come: July 21stSpongeBob the Movie”; and Friday August 26th “Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang”. This is a wonderful family event with face painting, candy art, games and activities for the kids prior to the movie at sundown.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES:  Concerts are tentatively scheduled for July 24, 31 and August 7 and 14.  Debbie Bednar made the suggestion to raise funds by raffling off food baskets with home made picnic items inside.

Suggestion was made by Denise to organize events and volunteers well ahead of each event so each is well planned. She offered to create a spreadsheet for this purpose.
