ALERT WARNING SYSTEM



ALERT WARNING

The Borough of Mountain Lakes Police Department is the lead agency for Alerting, Warning and Communications for the Borough.

The Borough of Mountain Lakes Police Headquarters is located at 400 Boulevard and has fourteen (14) full time Law Enforcement personnel.

The Primary Communications Center for the Borough of Mountain Lakes is located in Police Headquarters. The Borough of Mountain Lakes Police Headquarters has a back-up generator capability.

There exists a verbal mutual aid agreement in that the Boonton Township Police Department can dispatch Police and Fire.

EMERGENCY SIRENS

There exists within the Borough of Mountain Lakes three (3) siren warning devices which are activated by the Police Communications Center.

Siren Blast Warning System
  1. One blast = test
  2. Three blasts = fire
  3. Three continuous minutes of blast = emergency condition

A warning flow chart for Municipal Emergency Activation is kept at the Mountain Lakes Police Communications Desk and this chart includes the activation of Administrative and Operational personnel.

ROUTE ALERTING

During times of emergency, the Mountain Lakes Police Department have the capability to perform route alerting.

This notice is accomplished at the direction of the Police Chief with the assistance from the following agencies:

Route alerting is normally accomplished via mobile public address systems, door to door notifications.

Route alerting could be augmented by the use of municipal sirens, local radio stations, cablevision and the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS).
