bullet  OBJECTIVE: To advise and assist the Borough government in matters pertaining to the maintenance and restoration of the quality of the watersheds, lakebeds and waters of the Lakes of Mountain Lakes, including tributaries and estuaries.
bullet  CHARTER: The Committee will study methods of Lake maintenance and restoration to develop a Management Plan for lake and watershed protection and improvement. This Plan will include a program for monitoring existing lake and watershed conditions and a system of record keeping which will enable year-to-year comparison of the quality of the Borough lakes and streams.
bullet  MEMBERSHIP: The Committee shall consist of 9 members to be appointed by the Borough Council for one and two year terms.
bullet  RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee is responsible to the Borough Council and may look to the governing body for guidance and assistance in its work. County, State and Federal agencies, other communities and interested organizations and indi- viduals may also be sources of assistance.

Costs to the Borough should not be incurred without prior agreement from the Council. Members may receive reimbursement for various personal expenses as approved by the Borough Council.

bullet  MEETINGS: Meetings of the Committee shall be held at the Borough Hall whenever possible. Meetings may be attended by the public and the press, except for meetings of a confidential nature dealing with sensitive personnel matters or contractural or legal matters, which are in the process of being resolved prior to being made public, as defined under the Open Public Meetings Act.
bullet  REPORTING: The Committee will furnish periodic status reports as appropriate in the judgment of the Committee, but at least once a year. Material released for informational purposes must be reviewed by the Council or the Manager prior to release.
