- The HPC wrote and published specifically for Mountain Lakes residents the Historic Mountain Lakes Restoration and Renovation Handbook. Published in April 1996 by the HPC, it is available to residents at the Mountain Lakes Library.
- The Library also has Style 1900, Historic Preservation, Architectural Digest and The Old House Journal, periodicals that are valuable resources for renovation.
- Original photographs of many Mountain Lakes homes and other historic buildings are maintained by the HPC in the library and may be viewed on the library's public computer terminals and here on this site. Photographic copies may be obtained at a nominal charge.

The HPC's popular Architectural Salvage Clearinghouse accepts and stores old house parts and provides them to Mountain Lakes residents for use in renovations. There is an inventoried list. There are windows, doors, chestnut paneling, various kinds of trim, beams and parquet flooring..
- HPC committee members, including architects, are always available to review residents' renovation plans or drawings and provide helpful suggestions. There is no charge.
- The HPC supports the borough council and borough administration on historic preservation matters. They are often called upon for their expert advice.
