Mission
Green Team Mission & Goals

Sustainable Jersey is a municipal certification program open to all communities that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. The program identifies concrete actions that municipalities can implement to become "certified" and provides clear "how to" guidance and tools to enable communities to make progress.

Started in February 2009, 74 NJ municipalities have completed certification and 347 are in the process. Almost $600K in small grants have been distributed by Walmart to help municipalities achieve certification. Mountain Lakes passed a resolution in late 2009 to achieve certification and has put together a Green Team that operates within the Environmental Commission.

The Green Team has identified the following actions to be taken to achieve Bronze certification (150 points):
