Pet Waste Pollutes our Waters
Did you know that pet waste can pollute our lakes and streams?
When pet waste is not properly disposed of, it is washed by rain and melting snow into our waterways, eventually making its way through our streams and lakes to the ocean and our drinking water supply.
Animal waste contains a high concentration of bacteria and disease-causing microorganisms that can cause problems in the delicate ecosystem that is Mountain Lakes.
How can you help?
You can follow our Borough’s ordinances regarding pet waste disposal. You must immediately and properly dispose of all pet waste deposited on any public or private property not owned or possessed by you by picking it up, wrapping it, and either placing it in the trash or flushing it, unwrapped, down the toilet.
Make sure you do your part to help keep Mountain Lakes clean.
