MOUNTAIN LAKES Notice Board Announcement
|
| About the Notice Board | |
The Notice Board on the Mountain Lakes Web site is designed to be a "Virtual Community Center", a place where residents can go to find out what's going on in town. The objective is to present messages to residents on subjects they may wish to know about and to make it easy for organizations to post such messages about their activities.
The Notice Board may contain:
Posting something on the Notice Board is intended to be easy so that people can do it themselves. It is only necessary to click on the [MLNB] icon on the front page, fill out the form, and click "Submit".
To prevent abuse, all submissions are reviewed prior to being posted. Only messages that have been approved appear on the Notice Board.
Because of the review process, notices do not appear on the Web site immediately. Each notice is held until a member of the Web Committee can review it. Once it is approved, it appears promptly on the front page of the Web site. Approval generally takes a few hours but sometimes can be quicker or slower.
(If you are watching for your notice, don't forget to click "refresh" or "reload" to see the latest version of the front page.)
To be approved, all notices must meet the following criteria:
To be approved, an event must be open to anyone who lives in Mountain Lakes. It must take place in or near Mountain Lakes and be sponsored by the Borough Government, a private/pre-school in Mountain Lakes, a Mountain Lakes House of Worship, a Mountain Lakes organization, or an organization approved by the Web Committee.
Announcement messages not involving events or activities must meet criteria above and be deemed of broad relevance to the people of Mountain Lakes.
Alert messages may come only from the Borough government or the Board of Education.
Announcements of new items on the Web site may only come from the Web Committee.
Explicitly ruled out are messages posted by individuals such as classified ads ("For Sale: Ford Taurus") and personal messages ("Single White Male wants... ").
It is recognized that no set of rules can cover every possible situation. Since there are few resource constraints and little cost associated with the Notice Board, the Web Committee intends the rules to be interpreted broadly. When in doubt, a notice should be approved as should minor exceptions to these rules.
